WHAT'S NEW

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated the first full week in May.  National Teacher Day is celebrated on the first Tuesday of the first full week in May.  This day is set aside to honor teachers and recognize the lasting contributions they make to the lives of their students.

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, teachers work to open students’ minds to ideas, knowledge and dreams; and

WHEREAS, teachers keep American democracy alive by laying
the foundation for good citizenship, and

WHEREAS, teachers fill many roles, including being listeners, role models, motivators and mentors; and

WHEREAS, teachers continue to influence us long after our school days are only memories; and

WHEREAS, great teachers make public schools great; and

WHEREAS, the week of May 4 – 10, 2008, will be celebrated as National Teacher Appreciation Week; and

WHEREAS, Tuesday, May 6, 2008, will be celebrated as National Teacher Day;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Education does hereby recognize Tuesday, May 6, 2008, as

NATIONAL TEACHER DAY

in Schaumburg Community Consolidated School District 54 and encourages all citizens to join with us in recognizing and saluting

the teachers of School District 54 for their dedication to educating and inspiring our students.
