Run to Read 2010

Run to Read 2010 will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at Dirksen School in Schaumburg. Please join us in the 5K run/walk, 1-mile family fun walk, or 100- and 400-yard dashes for children. This event has two goals: to fight childhood obesity by encouraging exercise and to promote literacy. The profits will be used to purchase books for classroom libraries in District 54.

Time

7-8:30 a.m.	Race-day registration and packet pick-up in the school gym. You must register for the 5K by 8 a.m.
7:50 a.m.	Warm-up for kids' races at the starting line
8 a.m.	100-yard dash starts for children in 1st grade and under
8:15 a.m.	400-yard dash starts for children in 6th grade and under
8:30 a.m.	5K starts
8:45 a.m.	Family fun walk starts
9:40 a.m.	5K award ceremony and drawing in the gym

Location
Dirksen School is located at 116 W. Beech Drive in Schaumburg. Parking is also available behind the school in the Town Square parking lot (corner of Schaumburg and Roselle roads).

Costs
All participants who register by Sept. 9 will be guaranteed to receive a short-sleeve T-shirt and a goody bag. Registration fees will increase after Sept. 9. All participants are also encouraged to donate new or gently used children's books.
