Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs

We look forward to keeping in touch with all of the local units in our council and bringing you up to date information on what is happening in our council.

STC Goals 2007-2008 

In the 2007-08 school year, our Council hopes to accomplish the following goals.

• Be a strong voice for child advocacy and participate in legislative activity.
• Develop leadership skills beyond the local level by providing educational opportunities to promote leadership skills.
• Support local units in their efforts to increase membership so we can become a stronger voice for children.
• Increase local unit participation in Council-sponsored activities and develop leadership skills beyond the local level.
• Be a qualified and available resource for local units including PTA State and National programs and community-sponsored events.
• Increase communication between the Council, local units and the school community.
• Develop increased awareness of the objectives of PTA.

National PTA Mission

The mission of the National PTA is three-fold:

• To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
• To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;
• To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

The Objects of the PTA

• To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship
• To raise the standards of home life
• To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth
• To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth
• To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
